I started off in denial that my sweet baby could be turning 7 years old today. SEVEN. That’s far closer to two digits than it is to one. To my credit, I haven’t cried today. I think this is his first birthday that didn’t involve tears on my part!
I had someone tell me once (really) that it was “silly and selfish” of me to be sad that Jack is getting older, because my job as a parent is to raise a healthy adult. To that person, I both then and now stick my tongue out.
I am so SO proud of the person Jack is becoming. He is smart, and he is kind. He is well-liked, but he doesn’t make that his priority. He is seriously hilarious, and one of the coolest people I’ve ever known.
So, sure… it makes me sad that these 7 years have passed so quickly. He’s not my snuggly baby anymore. But at the same time, I’m so SO blessed to watch him become this incredible little individual, and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!
We capped off our spring break this last week with a Rock Star photo shoot. I told him he could request poses and everything… just like a real client. We had so much fun!!!

This is one of the shots Jack requested. He’s holding my old electric guitar, which he adores and is learning to play. He set up this pose himself and said, “I want to be serious, like a real rock star. Thinkin’ real hard.” 😉
Precious boy, Daddy and I are so proud of you! You’re the rockin’est 7 year old in the world, and you’re going to be such a fantastic big brother. We love you!!
