Jacob & McKenna : Engagement

I’m telling you, this past week has CRAWLED, mostly due to the fact that we’ve been sitting on this engagement session. Do you have any idea how hard it is to shoot something epic that you’re crazy proud of and then have to wait 7 whole days to blog it? I mean, between this engagement and all our fall bridal sessions, I really think my capacity for not-sharing is tapped out. I’m going to be in instant-gratification mode for a while… I mean, as much as possible. 🙂

McKenna & Jacob initially only hired us for their engagement session, and then McKenna decided that she just couldn’t live without us for the wedding. We SO appreciate when clients shift their budgets around to be able to include us… we know that’s a chore, and we don’t take that investment for granted! This sweet couple will be getting married in March, and I have a feeling their event will be a great start to our spring 2014 season.

We met up with the bride & groom to be at Possum Kingdom Lake, and based our gameplan around the complete lack of sunshine that day. We assumed we’d have clouds the whole time, which was fine with us, since McKenna is a big fan of a moody sky.

But, as you’ll see at the end of the session, we saw the chance for a killer sunset and changed our plan in a BIG hurry so we could capture the final images of the night. WORTH the running, worth the sweat, worth the bruises. This entire session is full of win.

Enjoy our favorites!

This spot down behind the dam looks so serene & calm… you’d never know it took us a death-defying hike to get down there!

This rocky outcropping was the result of another little hike… we’re so glad Jacob & McKenna trusted us enough to do a little adventuring during their session!

It’s possible that we’re over-sharing images from this spot, but it’s just because the reflection in the still lakewater was SO cool. Y’all are ok with oversharing… right?

Even with all the epic scenery we shot this day, the image below is still one of my very favorites.

And finally, with daylight fading fast and the sun making a ninja-fast appearance on the horizon, our awesome couple went for a little canoe ride around the inlet…

… and then, well, they decided they’d had enough of sweating, and would rather cool off in the water together. 🙂

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. I mean, ugh. TOO PERFECT.

Jacob & McKenna, we’re SO thrilled to have you two on the 2014 calendar. We love your brave spirits, and your immediate recognition of all our movie quotes. 🙂 Can’t wait to work with you again!
