We ALMOST missed gorgeous light for this engagement session. When the forecast showed an Arctic front blowing in, we tried to reschedule Nikki & Ben’s portraits, so they wouldn’t be freezing to death. The reschedule didn’t work out, so they decided to be troopers and stick with the original date despite the forecast. Lo & behold, although it was chilly, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful days we’ve had all year. The light all over Cedar Hill State Park was positively dreamy, and it seemed like every click of the shutter was capturing a frame more magic than the last. Nikki & Ben were just amazing together, in every way. We’re SO excited to capture another happy day for them next Spring!

Nikki did so great picking accessories that kept she & Ben warm without losing any of the style they wanted. And, at least in the sun, she wasn’t afraid to go without the coat from time to time. 🙂

There’s just something about the color of a blue sky in winter… that color is one of my favorite things in the world.

Blue sky, blue lake, yellow leaves, warm sunshine… I just couldn’t stop squealing during this set.

As the sun was setting, it seemed to set fire to the highest hills in the state park. We couldn’t help but photograph in places that showed off that color, even if it meant ditching our cars on the side of a curvy road and hiking through uncertain ground. WORTH IT.

You two. UGH. Perfection. We’re bummed we don’t get to play again ’til April, but that time is going to fly by… cross my heart. 🙂
