I admit to being slightly terrified when we booked Josh & Amanda’s wedding for late June in Abilene. After all, by late June, Abilene is usually kind of a dust bowl, right? I knew we could make it work, but I’m pretty much never looking forward to sweating my face off.
And then, as a wonderful little side-effect of the rainiest May EVER, it turned out to be a gorgeous day! Lytle Cove was green and covered in flowers, and perfect puffy clouds in a big blue sky were a gorgeous backdrop. The entire event was outside, and while I won’t deny getting a little sweaty, it was a thoroughly pleasant evening, and we LOVE what we were able to capture for this sweet couple!
Check out a glimpse of the day through our favorite images…
That baby stole my heart… little red-headed firecracker!!
Mr. & Mrs. Harris!
Whenever we are able, Mack and I like to pick out a spot in advance to send our couples immediately after the “I Do”s. Without a plan, brides & grooms can often end up tucked in some back room or hidden corner, out of the way of guests… and while that’s all well & good for logistics, it’s a decidedly UNromantic way to spend your first 5 minutes as Husband & Wife!
So using the bridal party as a barrier between the newlyweds and the guests, we pull our happy couples away to a pre-determined spot, back up, and say, “Hey. You just got married. Enjoy it!”
And the glimpses of true love that happen in those 5 minutes are often what creates my favorite images of the day.
Congratulations, Josh & Amanda! We hope your honeymoon week in the Dominican has been completely amazing, and just the rest you needed after throwing such a gorgeous event. We can’t wait to see y’all again!
