During our road trip, we got to stop and take a bit of a break just outside of Denver. Amy DuBois is a friend I’d only known from the internet, but when she offered her basement apartment up to my family (along with her washer & dryer), I just couldn’t pass it up! Amy & Joel have kids right about the same age as ours, and it really was so nice for everyone to be able to breathe and relax for about 24 hours, without feeling like we were up each other’s noses.

Of course, we had to repay them with a little family shoot. By the time we got started, it was nearly 11 a.m., with super bright skies about 7,000 feet closer to the sun than I’m used to. But with a little creative shade finding and lots of time to rest our eyeballs, we were able to capture some really sweet stuff of this awesome family!

Thank you… all four of you… for your hospitality & friendship. That night in Denver was exactly the little breather our family needed after being so cooped up for a couple weeks, and you’d better believe we’ll be taking you up on the offer to come stay again soon!
