We’ve been dying to share our favorite images from Chris & Halley’s wedding.
Ok. Not dying. I shouldn’t be all hyperbolic.
But we HAVE been really really really excited to blog these. We love Halley & Chris to death, and being able to photograph all the loved-up happy wonderfulness on their wedding day was a completely honor for us.
Halley & Chris made a deal when they were in Junior High… if they weren’t married by the time they were 30, they’d get married. Life happens, they lost touch. Both struggled through rough relationships. Chris became a father to the absolutely fabulous Constance. And when they found each other again, it was like someone turned on a switch in their hearts. Like they could each say, “Oh, THERE you are!!” That kismet was overwhelming to everyone in attendance, and if there was a dry eye in the crowd, I never saw it.
No day is perfect. But this one might be the closest we’ve ever seen. I mean, just LOOK…
This next image might just be one of my favorites ever taken during the “getting ready” portion of a wedding day. It’s an impromptu dance party, for no other reason than that a good song came on. I walked up the stairs and just saw it happening, and set my camera to silent shutter so they wouldn’t hear me over their music. It’s real life, and real happy, and Halley is just GLOWING.
And hey, if you can’t take your bra off and swing it around your head on your wedding day, then when CAN you do it??
Chris is my favorite teddy bear. He’s impossible not to hug. And you’ll see in these next few shots… he’s kiiiiiiind of a weeper. I love the way he loves his bride!
Constance was so excited all day, just to be a part of the busy-ness surrounding a wedding. It’s so exciting when two people you love so very much promise to love each other forever and ever!
Chris’ nephew was the ring bearer… although he turned into the ring THROWER there at the end, but whatever, he’s cute.
Yup. The best man, and brother of the groom, was crying just as much as the rest of us. Maybe more. No judgement. That’s what happens when you’re so happy for someone you can’t handle it.
Pockets on a wedding dress come in real handy when you need to pass out tissues.
I mean, really. Look at this girl. I think the word “lovely” was invented for women like Halley.
Finally, after all these years… and right before her 30th birthday… they are Mr. & Mrs. Barlen!
SWOON. Ok, yeah, the weather at Modeana was pretty stupid gorgeous that day. And the inside was totally perfect, too!
Mack and I weren’t ever involved in Greek life in college, so a lot of that stuff at weddings goes right over our heads. We shoot it, but I have no idea what’s going on. But this?? I got this. I can’t tell you what fraternity Chris was in, but I can tell you that whatever they were singing to the bride made her laugh until I was concerned for her health… and THAT is awesome.
Hey Casey! We see you down there bein’ a super hot mama to an adorable boy. Thanks for finding us in 2013, and marrying a cool guy, and introducing us to cool friends, and being so much fun at back porch parties. 🙂
Seriously, y’all. We’re blessed to know you. You’re one of those happy things that happened because of our job, and while it’s been super fun to shoot you a few times this past year, I’m glad we have no work to talk about next time we have a back porch party. We’ll just toast to being married, and all the crazy hard amazing wonderfulness that comes with it. 🙂
I’m crying all over again!! Happy tears!!
OMG!! I cried the entire way to work!! I love you guys and these are absolutely amazing!! I can’t wait to see the rest!!
