WELCOME TO THE BLOG

mcg kids do halloween

Yep, around here, we call it Halloween. I sincerely hope no one’s offended by our jack-o-lanterns and after-bedtime scary movie fests and costumes… we totally dig Halloween!

Now, we planned way in advance for our kids’ costumes this year. WAY in advance. Like, Jack has been thinking about his since his birthday in March, but Mack had Dot’s costume picked out BEFORE WE WERE EVEN PREGNANT. Boy or girl, this baby was going to have this costume, and we were going to do this photo shoot. I love the man for his passion about stuff like this. 🙂

I’m not going to spend a lot of time yammering. I’ll start with Jack’s costume, and give Mack a shout-out, because he was able to PERFECTLY execute the idea we had for these pictures. Jack is a UFC fighter. “Captain” Jack McGowan, fighting in the Ultra-Ultra-Crazy Lightweight Division, of course. 🙂 I hope we get lots of comments on these pictures, because sometimes Jack feels a little left-out of blog land (although it’s his own silly fault, because he hides from my camera). He’s way proud of these, though, and can’t wait to get home from school and see what everyone says about them!

Such a little sweaty stud!

He practiced his mean face a lot, but kept breaking into giggles. I love my sweet boy!

The absolute crowning achievement is that Mack actually made him a fight poster, which we got printed so he could take it to school with him today while he wore his costume!!! What do you guys think… is he ready for the big time? 🙂

Dot’s costume is silly. Just pure silliness. When we were trying to get pregnant, Mack joked about hoping we had a baby who was big enough to sit up alone at Halloween, because he wanted to dress him/her up as a gnome (a la the Travelocity commercials) and hide him/her in the bushes. Ridiculous, right? Well, it came up over and over and over again, so I could tell he really loved the idea, and I started to love it, too!

Luckily, Dot is sitting up really well right here around Halloween, and my sewing whiz of a mama whipped us up an ADORABLE gnome costume… complete with white cotton beard! These pictures are just so rockin’… I hope you’ll agree!

She really didn’t know what to think about all the fuss… I think she’s secretly making fun of us crazy grownups in her head.

And, of course, my favorite for last!

AHHHH!

Now, as I’ve already admitted on FB… this post was actually scheduled to go up TOMORROW, and a wedding was supposed to be up today. But I messed up! So be sure and come back tomorrow for pictures from Matt & Erin’s Colleyville wedding! 🙂

Now I must admit that I am a UFC fan as well, and boy does Jack look like a PRO!! He could totally take on Chuck Liddell or GSP. Total knockout by Team McG 🙂

And of course Dot is precious and the idea is HILARIOUS. I’m totally for embarrassing your kids before they’re old enough to talk!

I ALWAYS check the blog but NEVER post. But this time I felt like it was needed, ya know, to show Jack how awesome he really is! Let me start of by saying Dot is the cutest little garden gnome I have ever seen! But this comment is mostly for Jack! Jack, you’re awesome, coolest costume I’ve seen this year, or ever! And the poster? Priceless!! I bet you were the coolest kid at school, huh? (But I bet that has nothing to do with the costume)

Happy Halloween to all the McGowan family!

Your kiddos are precious. I think you executed this perfectly! Jack looks like he’d fit right into an arena and fight with the best of them. Dot, well, she is too stinkin’ adorable and should replace the gnome on the travelocity commercials.
