WELCOME TO THE BLOG

my mom’s spaghetti

Sometimes, there’s just too much going on for one blog post a day.

If you’re here to see Part 2 of Suzie & Majid’s gorgeous wedding, just scroll down to the next entry, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. But if you already saw those this morning, or if you want to read a silly little personal post before you get to the wedding goodness… then I’ve got the hookup for you!

My mom will tell you that her spaghetti isn’t that big of a deal, but she.is.wrong. She’ll tell you that she don’t know what she does that makes it so good, and that it’s different every time. There, she might be right. I don’t know. I do know that I’ve been trying to duplicate her simple, meaty, amazing spaghetti sauce for my entire adult life, and have never quite gotten there. My spaghetti is good, but it pales in comparison to the Real Thing.

By “real thing”, I obviously mean from my Texan mama’s kitchen. Not from Italy. Because I really don’t like that as much.

Anyway, Mama graciously invited Mack and the kids and I over for spaghetti dinner last night… after I dropped hints for a mere two or three weeks. We decided to bring the camera, because we’re trying to get better at documenting daily life, and because we were going to introduce Dorothy to the wonder that is Nanny’s Spaghetti. I cracked up looking at the pictures I was able to get, and I hope they’re just what you need to make it through the last half of your work day!

That’s my Daddy, being very very excited.

You know what’s hard? White balance with a red and white table cloth and a DIFFERENT colored red and white plate, and then reddish & whitish spaghetti. So this doesn’t look as yummy as it really is… but it is…

Young Jack doesn’t yet understand the proper way to eat spaghetti… but at least he has all the parts.

We at least started with Dot’s spaghetti in a bowl, but it didn’t last very long.

Mmmmm… BITES!

The picture above might be my favorite picture of Dorothy. Ever. The dog in the background to her right is the reason for the face… she was being a sneaky baby and dropping her noodles on the floor and laughing when Coco ate them.

OR, the face could have been because her brother was imitating a freight train…

Happy Friday, everyone! Go eat Spaghetti, and we’ll see you on Monday!
