Siiiiigh. Once again, the universe is conspiring against McGowan Images. The kickin’ Bride & Groom session we were supposed to shoot yesterday had to be rescheduled for a client emergency, so Dottie’s 10 month pictures got moved up a slot! But we filled in the time by taking some long-overdue portraits of two of my favorite people in the world… I’ll share those on Monday, and you don’t want to miss out!
I can’t believe I only have one more of these sessions to photograph for Dorothy Jane before we’re celebrating her first birthday. In April, the One Year session will involve the smashing of cake, and tutus, and whoa… I’m just not ready. It’s been so long since Jack was a baby, I’d forgotten how fast the first year flies by. I’ll admit, I cried when I was editing these pictures.
Sweet Dottie, I forgive you. I know you can’t stay my tiny little infant forever. Please don’t grow out of your love of singing, and cuddling, and clapping, and hide&seek. Please, quickly grow out of thinking it’s hilarious to growl and bite me, like a puppy.
As I’ve often done, this session is in two parts. The first is Naked Dot. I know, I know. My child seems to seldom be fully dressed. The thing is, while I’m taking these pictures for our readers (because you guys seem to like them), and for Dot (because I know she’ll appreciate them someday), I’m mostly taking them for me. And I LOVE me some naked happy baby!
This first picture was taken by Mack, as we were walking across the road for the mini-shoot. It turned out to be one of my favorites!
Who can resist that crooked little grin?
This next one was when she was ignoring me, clearly thinking it’d be more fun to escape from her blanket and play in the dirt.
The second little part of our shoot involved Dottie’s favorite toy, her Baby Lulu. Mack’s paternal grandmother gave Dorothy this doll for Christmas, and she has seldom been without it since. She kisses it and rocks it and pats it… and throws it down on it’s head when she’s mad. So, she’s got a bit of a temper. 🙂 But I thought these pictures would be particularly sweet for the Kansas family to see, since we don’t get to visit them as often as we’d like!
She dropped Lulu for a good reason… to pull out her bow, and wave at her Daddy.
Dottie’s standing up on her own! She’s a little shaky, and only manages 20-30 seconds at a time. That’s mostly because she gets so excited with her accomplishment that she starts waving her arms, and knocks herself off balance. It won’t be long now before she’s running circles around us!
Happy 10 month birthday, my angel. Let’s do this again in about a month, ok? 🙂
You were right, all of a sudden she is a little girl!!! Mack, this is my favorite shoot too. Love the outfit and Lulu is a perfect companion. Nanny’s precious baby, you are so beautiful. I love you!
Such a pretty girl! Oddly enough, the first picture reminded me of a Taylor Swift promo picture. I think it’s the eyes.
I know why these are Mack’s favorites…it’s the look she has for him. That special little girl love for her daddy comes out every time she looks at him. These are precious, as is to be expected. Absolute work of love.
Beautiful, as always!
p.s. Does that outfit come in my size?
#1 – GLITTER SHOES. Adorable. #2 – Your child has got to have the blue-est eyes EVER.
OMG, that black and white shot of her with her hand in the air. Oh be still my heart! Sweetness. Love her.
It is Baby Gaga! Not Baby Lulu! Embrace it Chels! haha! Great pictures, she’s beautiful!
So excited to see these this morning! Can’t believe Lil’ Dotsky is 10 months old (almost), seems like just yesterday she was born. Me and Uncle J are sooo excited the outfit fit so well, looks perfect on her!
–Katrina, the outfit came from Dillards, if you wanna check for your size : )
I’m in love with the glitter shoes shot, but I think my favorites are the first shot of course, the cracked grin one and the one of her waving at Mack (b&w), oh and the 3rd from bottom. Ah, who am I kidding, I love em all!
So cute! Love all of her different facial expressions!
I know, shame on me for waiting this long to comment today! I’m so glad I finally got to meet Baby Dot today! She’s just as precious as these pictures!! My three major favorites today are: 1) the picture of her ignoring you 2) the first landscape one of her with lots of empty bench to your right and 3) the one of waving at Mack. I’d count the first picture of my favorites but I’ve already seen it. Maybe you can ease your denial about her being one year by still counting in months? (12 months, 13 months, etc.) Thanks for sharing!
She is so cute!! Great Photos thanks for sharing!!
These are my new absolute favorites!!!!! I love love love them!!! She is beautiful, sweet, funny and just precious!!!
Beautiful baby girl!! Love her!
Oh, y’all, she is just the most beautiful, precious lil’ girl!!! Even if she does bite you and growl like a puppy (HILARIOUS!)
I absolutely LOVE the b&w of her thinking about getting off the blanket, that it a wonderful, wonderful shot! I mean, they all are, of course…she’s amazing, and so dang cute with her little baby doll! I also really love the waving shot!!!
Hard to believe how quickly she’ll be a whole year old, wow! Keep the Dottie pics comin’, please! 🙂
SO CUTE! Pretty & Pink! 🙂 I absolutely LOVE the clarity & radiance in the eyes.
P.S. Favorite shot: numero uno. To Mack: *high five*
