McG Kiddos : Fall 2011

Fall is easily my favorite season of the year. The chill in the air, the gorgeous colors, the anticipation of coming holidays… yes yes, there’s no season I like better than Fall.

I was worried that we wouldn’t get those gorgeous colors this year, though… We got a lot of rain a while back, and that helped revive everything that the Death Summer had killed off. But that just meant it was vibrant green all around us, almost like Spring! Luckily, we’ve dipped below freezing a few times in the last couple weeks, and now it’s gloriously autumnal outside. Ahhhh… Happy Chelsea.

We took the kids outside one evening last week to grab some new pictures of them, and aside from how gorgeous the Littles look, the colors are definitely my favorite part. šŸ™‚

I thought itā€™d be nice to give a little update as to how the munchkins are doing, because Iā€™m a proud Mama like that. šŸ™‚ Jack is doing SO well in 3rd gradeā€¦ heā€™s reading at a 5.5 grade level, and getting straight Aā€™s. Heā€™s such a sweet, considerate, clever child, and this is such an exciting age! We’re hoping this nice weather holds for a little while… we have plans to build a fort with the wood left over from replacing our porch. šŸ™‚

Dottie is a little less than 19 months old, and talking up a storm. A lot of it, we donā€™t understand, of courseā€¦ but some of it, we do! She clearly says everyoneā€™s name, and asks for what she wants, and even strings a few words together into basic sentences, like, ā€œIā€™m cold,ā€ and ā€œMore juice, please.ā€ She is also a Diva. Like whoa. Weā€™re blessed that sheā€™s an affectionate and happy child, for all her hard-headedness. Weā€™re tackling potty training, and teaching her that brothers are not for punchingā€¦ never a dull moment!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the other nightā€¦ a little glimpse at the cuteness that surrounds us!

That shot above is the closest I got to both of them smiling at the camera at the same time. I’m hoping we have better luck for their Christmas pictures!

Below, evidence of my Darling Diva Dot. It’s a shame she’s so shy, huh?

The rocking horse in the pictures below was built for me when I was a toddler by my Grampy. His name is “Top of the Morning”. I love this horse, and I get a serious case of the weepies whenever I see my precious babies loving on him too!

Happy Fall, dear blogstalkers!

Don’t forget, today is a Two Blog Post kind of day. Come back in a couple hours to see a sweet family session. And tomorrow, we start sharing our favorites from last weekend’s TO DIE FOR Country Chic wedding. You don’t want to miss it!
