WELCOME TO THE BLOG

leave my wings behind me…

Sometimes, you just need an adventure. Even if you love the “day to day”, and the “day to day” is everything you ever dreamed of… sometimes you need something a little out of the ordinary to shake you up and remind you who you are. I am so very blessed beyond belief to have babysitters (my fantastic parents) that understand this need, and a husband who loves my restless spirit, and a best friend who will move mountains just to fight traffic and have an adventure with me.

On Friday afternoon, Mack and I drove to Austin to see the Counting Crows play at SXSW. They’re my very favorite band in the world, and they did not disappoint. We arrived early enough to hear the band sound-check, and for the 15 of us standing around waiting for the gates to open (*cough*SUPERFANS*cough*), they played “Le Ballet D’or”. Wonderful reward for our dedication.

The show was magnificent. The company was perfect. The sangritas were tasty. And stretched out on a picnic blanket at 1 a.m. with some of the people I love the very most in all the world, I was reminded of who I am. Outside of my business, and my children… just me, as Chelsea. I love those modifiers, but they can be crutches, too. The older I get, the more I find I’m becoming comfortable with being just me.

So come now, let’s go dance to the siren’s song

Come now, leave your damage behind and gone…
