WELCOME TO THE BLOG

McG Does Tahoe…

It seems like all we’ve talked about here lately is travel. I definitely don’t want this blog to become “The Wide World of McG” or anything like that… I don’t want you to get sick of reading about places we’ve been. But this season, that’s what life has been about. GOING. We’re settling into a more normal routine now, with five engagement sessions and a Bride & Groom session to shoot in February, so I promise there will be more client work coming your way soon.

And actually… real soon. Because the portraits we shot of our friends Kevin & Nicole in Tahoe are images we’re insanely proud of, and they’re getting the special sauce treatment right now. On Friday, prepare your eyeballs to see lots more of that prettiness.

But today, we’re sharing some of our favorite “non-working” pictures from the trip. Pictures of us, pictures of scenery, pictures of Life. Kevin & Nicole were so generous, and we all stayed in a gorgeous cabin in Tahoe that allowed us to spend lots of time just snuggled up watching movies in front of the fire… I mean, when we weren’t in the hot tub with snow falling on our heads. 🙂 It was the perfect mix of hard work and good relaxation, and a trip we’ll never ever forget.

We shot a lot at Sand Harbor, a gorgeous beach that a McG blogstalker told us about. We are all four now DYING to return there in the summer and swim. The water is so clear and gorgeous!

The pictures you’ll see here with the sky reflected in the water… that’s not photoshop trickery. It was just that smooth. Mind blowing!

But the day we did Nicole’s boudoir session out there? It was NOT calm and clear at ALL! It was crazy windy and 30 degrees colder than the day before. Still gorgeous, but totally different!

On Sunday morning, we woke up to lots of snow. LOTS! Falling down to the ground in flakes like I’d never seen in my life. Que play day!

The boys make pretty terrible faces when they’re racing their sleds. Mack can blame his on his concussion, but Kevin has no excuse. 😉

At the end of Kevin & Nicole’s session, I’d fallen in love with one of the lighting set-ups we created for them, so I handed the camera off to our clients and let them take a picture of us in the same spot. 🙂 It’s WONDERFUL to have clients that are dear friends, and even better that they’re talented photographers. 🙂

Since Nicole & I both got boudoir portraits on this trip (well, mostly Nicole, but I got a couple), the boys needed some new badass profile pictures as well. Accomplished!

Group squeeze!!

YAY! Love that last one so much. It’s getting framed in our house for sure.

Come back on Friday to see all of Kevin & Nicole’s snuggly portraits… there’s so much prettiness, you’ll be SICK of it. 🙂

Woooooooooooooow!!! I LOVE it when McG does scenery! Every shot is canvas-worthy (and at the very least would make for awesome desktop backgrounds), beautifully done, as always. And ohhhhOMcG, those last few shots with that lighting set-up are just magical — can’t wait to see the rest!
