WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Return To Blogging

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ve probably noticed that blogging in 2016 isn’t what blogging was in 2013. And there are a lot of reasons for that, but I just decided I’d put it all on the table.

I used to be so good at this… at blogging. I enjoyed it, it was fulfilling, it was a fun way to showcase our work.

Blogging started to have diminishing returns, and I still liked doing it. Sure, when every post used to get 40-50 comments, that was AWESOME. Hugely validating for this Gold Star-oriented girl. Our analytics stayed steady, and we kept hitting our booking numbers, so why change anything?

Last fall, I got really tired. Like, REALLY tired. Since we were taking a pretty unprecedented winter break, Mack encouraged me to let blogging be something I set on the back burner for a while. And here it is, second half of March, and I’m struggling to get back into it.

It’s not that I don’t miss writing… I do. A LOT, actually. My not-so-secret wish to have a personal blog is still in the back of my head (I mean, with all my spare time). I love telling our couples’ stories, and allowing new clients to get a true sense of who we are.

So here we are. It’s crunch time. It’s busy season, it’s time to step it up again. In addition to blogging, I’m trying to juggle posting on the business facebook page, the McG and SKIN instagram accounts, and… well, ya know, breathing. If I get hung up on outside reasons for why I’m doing it, I’ll get burned out again.

So I’m blogging because I love it. Because it scratches my writer itch… my storyteller instinct. So while I actively pray that what I share will make an impact on our future clients… that it will give all sorts of wonderful happies to our couples when they see their collections… I can’t focus on the results that might come with those things. It’s like losing weight. If all I care about is the number on the scale, why even bother?

I’m gonna try, y’all. And I’m excited about it. And this time, if I can’t stick to my OMG RIDICULOUS rigid schedule, well, I’m not going to stress about it.

I hope that whoever of y’all are left will enjoy what we have to share. It’s been a slow couple of months, but it’s officially back to busy, and we’ve got SO much pretty to show off!

You do what’s best for you and for your business! I still check the blog almost daily for my daily dose of McG awesomeness. It’s also how I originally found y’all, so I guess I’m a loyal follower. I remember after reading just a few posts, I realized you were my people! On particularly nostalgic days, I find the series of blog posts from our wedding and e-session. The combination of beautiful photos and your storytelling never fails to bring a smile to my face. Love y’all!

  2. I happen to love your blog posts! 🙂
