Dottie is one month old! | McGowan Images Blog

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Dottie is one month old!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled Picnic Posts to bring you this breaking news… One month old Dottie is ridiculously cute.

If you’re here for Tiffany & Mark’s mini-session pictures, which went live this morning, just scroll down a little ways. They’re there, and they’re such fun!

But I couldn’t help posting a blog of my sweet baby girl. Yesterday, she’d been alive for 4 weeks. Tomorrow is May 21, so, a month after April 21. I figured I’d split the difference and do her “One Month” post today. 😉

For those of you not familiar with infants, I’ll explain a little of what’s happening in our lives right now. Although she was inarguably the most gorgeous brand-spankin’-newborn ever to grace the earth… newborns aren’t much to write home about, as far as personality goes. We’ve been blessed that she’s so easy, but it’s just in the last week or so that a personality is really starting to emerge.

Dorothy LOVES when her brother does his “Dancing Mickey” routine. She thinks the glo-worm in her crib is her very best friend. She LOVES to eat (which I appreciate, because it’s helping me lose weight really fast). She wakes up once every night to eat, and goes right back to sleep 95% of the time. We’ve learned that… just like in utero… this girl does NOT appreciate tomatoes. So my avoidance of Italian food will have to continue for another several months… dangit.

Already, Dorothy is very dramatic. She has her, “It’s the end of the world” sigh down pat. She’s also great at copy-catting, so since she has her Daddy’s freakishly long tongue, we play the “Stick Your Tongue Out At Me!” game a lot.

All in all, this month has been overwhelmingly fantastic. I’m excited about this weekend’s weddings, and getting back into the full swing of portrait sessions this next week. I’ll miss Baby Dot while I’m away from her, but I’m feeling SO blessed that my going back to work doesn’t equal 40-50 hours a week away from my family. For most of my work, throughout the summer, I’ll have Dot in her swing next to my desk, and Jack on the trampoline out in the yard. And folks, that’s a seriously sweet set-up.

Anyway, enough chattering. Here are Dottie’s One Month pictures!

For the record, on all these pictures, I brightened the entire image… but didn’t artificially do anything to the color of her eyes. We’ve just got another blue eyed girl in the family!

This next image is now the background on my phone. She had her eyes closed when I was getting it set up, and I said out loud, “Oh, sweetie… let me see your pretty eyes.” And BAM, one of them popped open. Lucky Mommy!

Poor thing just BARELY has a nose to speak of…

So, that’s where we took our halfway point break. I ended up making plans to go into town with Mom and get a pedicure, so I got Dottie dressed up all cute. When we got home, I had a thought. You’ve already seen pictures in front of the bright yellow walls in her room. Well, there’s lots more color in the McGowan complex!

I decided to see how this green worked as a background, and I LOVE it! This is the color of the walls in my new office:

Anyway, since it worked so well, I ran into the house and got some stuff, and took a few more pictures using the office colors… like the red front door:

And finally, the picture that’s serving as Dottie’s Daddy’s new desktop background:
