Favorite Moments of 2012

Happy Friday, loves!

If you haven’t voted in the “Best of 2012” contest, you still have time! I won’t close voting until 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 13th. The turnout for this year’s contest has been really great, but there’s always a big push toward the end as the top few contenders get down to the wire. Vote vote vote!

Today is my favorite day this week… well, at least here on the blog. We’re sharing all our favorite REAL moments from weddings in 2012. Going through this post was such a treat. We really made it a priority in 2012 to catch more “in between”, more motion, more real life breaths and sighs and shouts. These tiny little movements are sometimes the memories we come to cherish most, and are often the photographs our clients love most of all. We’re so proud of all the wonderful REAL moments we caught for our 2012 couples, and we’re looking forward to doing it with our amazing 2013 clients as well!

Most of our wedding days start with the bride getting ready, so let’s start our “Favorite Moments of 2012” post there! Don’t forget to comment and tell us your favorite image from this post… one random commenter will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card!

Our couples experienced some super sweet First Sight moments this year… there’s always so much happy in this part of the day!

Time to walk down that aisle!

Even if it wasn’t our job to attend wedding receptions, we would have wanted to go to these!

Awwwww, yay! That’s a wrap!

Be sure to vote for your favorites, and spread the word over the weekend! Bright & early on Monday, we’ll announce the winner of the 32×48 canvas wedding portrait, as well as the four winners of Amazon gift cards. See you then! 🙂

Chelsea and Mack you guys are pure evil! This is not fair to ask anyone to pick favorites out of these, some of the picture posted this week were the ones that I have been waiting to see all week, hoping they would make it in somewhere. I cant pick just one or even 3 so here are my faves. Jordyn in the hug with Joey off the ground the pure joy is so clear, Kathleen with her big breath as she walks down the aisle is such a real moment and amazing that you guys captured it, love Anna sitting in the chair touching up her makeup with her dress in the background, the lantern release and the beach ceremony in Aruba both look like something you would see straight out of a magazine cant believe they are real moments. My 3 absolute faves that made me tear up when I saw them for the first time were Ann tearing up at her ceremony after 20 years of marriage, to be there was such an honor. Lindsey being walked down the aisle with her dog right next to her (that one made me not just tear up by cry ugly for a few minutes), and finally from my favorite wedding of the entire year Jordyn walking down the aisle as Joey played a song for her (melts my heart).

I loved Amy and Randy and the close up of the emotion of her face. Sooo beautiful!!!!!

  3. Amy W says:

I have NO IDEA how you expect us to pick favorites here! So many amazing pictures this week! I do love ours because of the emotion in it, but I also love the one of Kathleen walking down the aisle with her dad. The expression on her face is priceless and one of those candid moments that allow the viewer to really feel what she was probably feeling at the time. I also love the one of the bride and groom kneeling during the ceremony and she is turning and looking at him like she is about to laugh — love it! And of course, anytime a groom does anything resembling a Freddie Mercury pose, that’s pretty much a win right there. Love them all!!

  4. Abby says:

I’m going to go with Jordan walking down the aisle toward Joey playing the violin for her. One of my favorite photos you guys have ever taken. I love it so much

  5. megB says:

My favorite “moments” of 2012 come from my favorite weddings of the year: Jon & Anna, Jordyn & Joey, Lindsey & Matt. Taylor & Kirby. I also LOVE the one of Bailey with the pre-ceremony, straight-from-the-bottle tequila shot. SO priceless! I can see why this is your favorite post of the year 😉

  6. Chelsea D. says:

THE PUPPY!!! oh I love how much joy doggies bring into our lives!

  7. Angie says:

Oh gosh, that first shot of the dog just melts my heart… and that first sight twirl… and all of those little flower girls and ring bearers, especially the annoyed one! OH, and when the groom plays his bride’s processional, oh, I just melt – so sweet. And there’s that sweet dog again, walking his lady down the aisle. Those super heroes are just hilarious. And all of the goodbyes are just so sweet and perfect endings to perfect nights. And that is my favorite 🙂

  8. Paige Ann says:

Gosh, let’s not make this easy or anything…There are sooo many great pictures. I too love the one where Jordyn is walking down the aisle to Joey playing her processional. I also love their first site in the field. The superheroes are awesome as are the levitating boots. And, I gotta give props to any man dancing hard enough to split open his pants!!! 🙂

  9. Will says:

Mrs. May praying. So sweet. Only because I know her and her families heart. That prayer was one of thousands for that day, I am sure of that.

  10. Carman says:

Love the ring bearer running down the aisle — and the groomsmen giving the couple the thumbs up — and so many others!

  11. Samie W says:

I have to pick the one with Nicole and her dad dancing down the aisle, that was so an emotional day for my brother and right before he gave his fristborn away he had a little bit of fun with her and then right after that lost it again!! Of course that wedding and the reception all the pics were great!!!

  12. stephanie says:

For once, I cannot pick a favorite. There is no way I could pick just one when every one of them is so special. Sorry! 🙂

  13. Casey W says:

Love the first “first look” image…such a genuinely sweet moment!

  14. Ambo says:

Hard to choose again, but 75 gets my vote…the groomsman in the super hero shirts is amazing!

  15. Caitlin B says:

I absolutely LOVED the wedding where the groom played the violin for his bride down the aisle! Such a sweet stinkin’ moment! (I also think the rain boots picture is fun!)

  16. Adria says:

Ok, I had like a top 30 of these! LOVE them! I think my favorite is #19.

  17. Danielle says:

My favorite is the picture of Ang checking out Garrett during the wedding at the alter. <3 love that look!

  18. Ann says:

No way to vote for just one. And can I be selfish and say how excited I am to see several of mine and Jay’s big day (take 2!) Love the very first picture and then when Lindsay’s dog helped walk her down the aisle. Love the big breath before the walk down the aisle. Bubble getaway – major fave. Lanterns in Aruba – look like they should be on a travel brochure or magazine. But my two real faves are the one you shot of me putting on necklace – through the arm…and Jay checking out his “little black book”. Did’t just capture the moment but the personalities and our relationship more that you’ll ever know.

  19. Angela says:

@Danielle, yes, that was quite a moment! I vote for #107 – for a pants-splitting good time! Haha!

  20. keri says:

I love that your favorite moments from our wedding are all silly… haha.

I think my favorite is the guy with the ripped pants. There has to be a good story for that one. I also liek the one with the girl walking down the aisle with her father where she’s letting out a big breath of air.

  21. Mandaroo says:

I loved this blog so much…I literally looked at it at least 4 times today! My favorite is Maggie & Brenton’s 1st look! They look so incredibly happy and joyful! My 2nd favorite is Liesa walking down the aisle to Rob tearing up at the sight of his bride! And last but not least, my 3rd favorite is Pam & Mike’s lantern send off in Aruba! Such a beautiful and priceless moment! Great job McG on capturing these fabulous moments!

  22. Tiffany says:

Love the 9th first sight! So emotional!

  23. Ginn says:

I love the pics with the German Sheppard! Who doesn’t love a GSD! Also the one with the groom playing the violin while his bride walks down the isle… so sweet! I also love the bride and bridesmaids in their cowboy boots all jumping! LOVED this blog!

  24. Mad says:

I can’t do it. I don’t have a favorite and my list is too long to post without becoming annoying. These are the captured moments that will be cherished for generations. What a great year! Congratulations again to all the newlyweds!

  25. Allison B says:

Could never pick a favorite, I just cried the entire way through!! Amazing

  26. Jill Smith says:

I love the one with the guys looking through the glass doors at the couple. So cute! And the kiss behind the cowboy hat!

  27. Amber Robinson says:

I love all of them but I think the one with all the groomsmen in there superhero shirts is my fav my son loved it.

  28. Angela says:

Just impossible to choose a favorite here. I love #23 from the top, but I also love so many of the B&W photos that show so much emotion. Love this post…

  29. Brittany says:

I love the pic of the guys with the superhero shirts underneath.

  30. Niki says:

The very first walking down the aisle photo with the two kids. It’s hilarious and adorable!

  31. marybeth says:

These are all so fun to look at! I love them. Thanks for doing such a fantastic recap of the year. It was fun to look at all week.

  32. Tiania says:

I LOVE the picture of Mrs. Laurie helping Erin put on her pearls while we were all in the bridal suite geting ready. It was such a touching moment and you can see the love that they have for each other as well as the emotion of it being the big day.

  33. Courtney H says:

Love the groom playing music to his bride coming down the aisle!

  34. Erica says:

I have three favorites! The first picture with the pup lying down oblivious to the excitement of the day! I also adore the momma/grandma hands pinning a broach onto the bride’s green sash. I adore the groomsmen busting in on the first look to show their excitement. Such sweet moments!

  35. Katie Beach says:

You picked two of my personal favorites… Love the one of my mom praying…so sweet and beautiful! The confetti exit shot is already on a giant canvas. 🙂

  36. Grace says:

    Several favorite:
bridal party reflected in water, Taylor & Kirby, Taylor and her dad, Groomsmen giving the “thumbs UP” to Taylor & Kirby.

  37. Carmen says:

Love #25, the tequilla shot straight from the bottle, the bubble exit, the wet willy picture, and the spit pants. Haha. They are all so great I just chose a couple favorites! 🙂

  38. Pthomas says:

I’m throwing in with #034. Great action shot.

  39. Jordyn Pitts says:

I love the first and last images, the dog walking with the bride, the bride hugging her groom with her face on his shoulder, and the little boy holding the sign sitting on the altar….

But my all time favorite has to be the image you captured at our wedding. That moment where time slowed down just enough for me to pause at the beginning of the aisle and take everything all in. I love being able to have that moment captured along with Joey playing the violin and my dad using his phone to snap a picture (that’s something he does EVERY time he gets to see us) and both of my grandmas’ reactions there for me to look back on….everything about it is great!! Such an awesome shot 🙂

  40. Tiffany says:

I have looked at this several times now and I can’t choose a favorite. Nope, you can’t make me. 🙂

  41. Kendall says:

I am going to be totally biased on this one – My mom pinning Nana’s emerald pin on my dress. Losing Nana the way we did made having her as part of our wedding all the more special.
