Paper Wedding : A Collaboration

Once a year or so, we like to shoot something that’s just for US. Sometimes we partner up with people, sometimes we create things on our own, and sometimes we travel all the way out to the Nevada desert… but it’s always for the same reason. Our souls need the challenge and the change of pace, and we want to flex our creative muscles in preparation for a busy season.

This year, my idea was one I knew I couldn’t do on my own. Back in the winter, I told Mack that I had a dream of a shoot where everything was made of paper, and he said, “Oh good luck with that. Better call Meagan.”

So of course, I did. But this was too big for even Meg & I to accomplish alone. Together with a team of spectacular vendors, we brought my dream to life. Mack didn’t shoot this session because the unexpected rain meant he had to run interference for me all day. Our props were incredibly intricate and delicate, and there is absolutely no way I would have been able to achieve most of these images without him running around with towels and umbrellas and beers (important!) all day long.

Together, we were able to realize my vision of a bride in a paper dress, with paper flowers, serving a paper cake on a paper table. It’s beautiful and whimsical, and while the unanticipated change in weather kept this shoot from looking like I’d planned in my head, I think this is BETTER.

Christian & Logan are a gorgeous couple who were fearless models, and worked so hard all day long to help us pull off this idea. They were truly the perfect people to wear this design, and we’re so grateful for the time they gave us!

A million thank you’s to the team who came together to help me capture these beautiful images… I hope it stretched your creative souls like it did mine!

Ok, ok… I’m done talking, I’m done sneak peeking. LET’S LOOK!

Who knew white paper plates could look so classy?? I just love this look!

Dozens of kudos to Angie of Posh Floral for this bouquet. It’s just the right amount of quirky, and she worked magic with our paper flowers!

Shannon, can you just come do my hair & makeup every day? Christian is gorgeous when she first wakes up in the morning, but your finesse took her over the top!

Oh yeah, you got that right… paper mache stools, a newspaper cake table, and the cake itself covered in edible paper icing. BEYOND awesome.

Can you even believe that paper wedding dress?? Meg is so ridiculously talented, she intimidates me sometimes!

Again, over & over, a hundred million thank you’s to the vendors both local & international that jumped on board my crazy-train for this mid-summer adventure. I can’t wait to do it again!

Blogstalkers, remember… we do these shoots JUST for ourselves. We love them, and we love your feedback almost as much. Let us know what you think! 🙂
